University of Saskatchewan have come up with a way to text a special telephone number that automatically shuts your car off wherever it may be located. According to mobile magazine, to avoid injury, the car goes into to 30 seconds of "limp mode" before the car becomes totally disabled. Onboard GPS texts back the location of the vehicle.While this sounds like a great car retrieval tool if your car is stolen, we here at NorCal MINIs rather we never know what happened to our vehicle if its stolen. We would rather it be a total loss than an insurance company "repair job." Who knows what bad things happened to the car while it was in the thief's possession.
