More Red Light Cameras To Be Installed In Oakland

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a third red light camera, at the intersection of 82nd Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, will become operational on Tuesday. There already are cameras at 66th Avenue and San Leandro Street in East Oakland and 7th and Jackson streets downtown. The City hopes to have 20 cameras and flash sensors at more than a dozen intersections by the end of the year. The other Oakland intersections where cameras are to be installed include Hegenberger Road and Hamilton Street, Market Street at 35th, 36th and 40th streets, 35th Avenue and Redwood Road, 6th and Madison streets and MacArthur Boulevard at Oakland and Beaumont avenues.

We now know how Oakland has decided to raise revenue to overcome its budget crisis.
