The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has proposed a new label for all replacement tires that shows, in numerical and graphic form a tire's overall performance as it relates fuel economy, safety and durability. The label requirement will be open for public comment and has been proposed as required by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2003 which mandates adoption of a final rule by December 2009.
