210 MPH In A 65 MPH Zone = $500 fine

Philip Odegard, chief beneficiary of the Odegard Media “empire,” received this ticket for driving his Bugatti Veyron, a $1.5 million ultimate speed machine, 210+ MPH in a 65 MPH zone on California toll route 73 in Los Angeles.

The fine - $500. That is it. No loss of license, no jail time. Hardly a deterrent for a man with his coin. We always thought a 100+ MPH ticket in California was automatic license suspension. Apparently this law doesn't apply to the filthy rich with really cool cars.
