Growing up there was one of our neighbors who shortened VW Microbus's by removing 3-4 feet of wheelbase between the tires. He would then mount a wheelie bar with skateboard wheels on the rear. Being back heavy, upon hard acceleration the front of the modified Microbus would elevate the front tires off the ground and the vehicle would run on the rear tires and skateboard wheels. He sold quite a few of them.
Here, Jalopnik has pictures of "shorty cars" - that is, cars that have been stripped of several feet of wheel base. Rather an interesting phenomenon and look. But, wouldn't it be easier just to buy a Mini?
