Times are tough for California educational institutions and charities. The
Long Marine Laboratory, a research unit of UC Santa Cruz that operates from an oceanside research facility and does research on elephant seals and other aquatic species at Año Nuevo State Nature Reserve and Park, has asked us to help them collect materials for their office and for children's projects they run for visitors to the Laboratory. Teri Sigler, Office Administrator at the Seymour Center at the Long Marine Laboratory has specially requested the following items:
-Construction paper
-Crayons
-Pencils
-Clip boards
-Reams of paper
-Glue sticks
-Post-its
-Pens
-Staples
-Markers (crayola in many colors or the like)
-Dry erase markers
-Binders (2 or 3 inch)
-Silverware, especially spoons (plastic)
NorCal MINIs is known for its community philanthropy. Let's assist this public Santa Cruz research center.
We will collect donations at the Elephant Seal Run on Saturday, January 23, 2010 and at the Planning Meeting at Vic's on Sunday, January 24, 2010.
