According to autoevolution Wolfgang Kuttler, head of Mini diesel engines, avowed that MINI only intends to improve mileage using methods other than diesel hybrids. His reasoning for not using the diesel hybrid technology, such as Peugot's HYbrid4 technology, was “It only brings fuel savings in town, not on the faster, more open roads commonly used in Europe. We’ll never use a system like it at Mini for that reason."
