MotoringFile reports that the MINI City Car concept, based on the current R56 platform but shortened to original Mini proportions, which will sport the new three cylinder engine, will debut next year. The engine will be used in this city vehicle before the engine is fitted in the R56 replacement’s lower model ranges. MotoringFile expects the small MINI that Autocar calls the "Minissimo" to adopt a 2 or 2+1 seat layout.

MINI City Car Concept Expected Next Year
