No Recall For You

BMW has recalled 130,000 turbo-powered vehicles over defective fuel pumps, but, the recall does not include any MINIs.

According to Jalopnik, dozens of MINI owners on forums such as North American Motoring have reported failing high-pressure fuel pumps in turbo-engined Cooper S models. Yet, MINI has no plans for a recall (although in July, MINI announced an extension on the warranty on the high-pressure pumps to 10 years or 120,000 miles on 2007-2009 Mini Cooper S vehicles.) MINI maintains the N14 engine in the Cooper S uses a different fuel pump than the one under recall by BMW and that the warranty extension "is sufficient"

Jalopnik reports that many dealers have claimed there is no defect and that the problems stem for "bad fuel."
