No Longer On Crank

One hundred and seven years ago today a patent was issued to Clyde J. Coleman for his new invention - the electric automobile starter.  This ultimately led to the elimination of the manual hand crank. Coleman sold his patent to Delco a company that was later acquired by GM. A modified electric starter was first used by GM in the 1912 Cadillac.
