Cheaper Insurance For Those Who Don't Mind Big Brother

Jalopnik discusses intrusions into the cabins and diagnostics of your car by insurers in order to provide you with insurance discounts. One is Progressive Insurance's program "Snapshot (formerly known as MyDrive)" that places a dongle into a vehicle's diagnostic port, collects data about stops, speed and driving time for at least 30 days and wirelessly reports that data back to Progressive. Drivers who meet Progressive's standards can qualify for a 25%t to 30% discount. The program is voluntary and you can opt out at any time. (Jalopnik points out "[i]n some states, Progressive can use the data to raise rates, but says opting out drops the increase.") Can the insurance "nanny camera" be far behind?
