The final week is set to become increasingly sandy – if not before, then definitely when the Dakar heads to Peru. "A difficult battle in the sand," was how Nani Roma's co-driver Michel Périn saw the final three stages developing before this year's Dakar even started, "where something could happen any minute and the Dakar could suddenly be over for someone."
