“Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”
- Admiral David Farragut during the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864
Our May 3rd 3rd Thursday venue is historic, fun, and "spirited" at the Mare Island Brewing Company's Coal Shed Brewery Taproom. This is a very cool location with great brews and food to meet up with NorCal MINIs club members and anyone else who loves MINIs. Be sure to set your navigation system to the Mare Island location at 850 Nimitz Ave, Vallejo, CA 94592, otherwise you'll be at one of their two other locations on the other side of the water from where the MINI folks are meeting.
Check out the link below to see their food and brew menus.

About Mare Island and the Brewery
Mare Island started as a shipyard for the US Navy back in 1854. Nine historic coal sheds, all built between 1898 and 1906, sit prominently on the waterfront of Mare Island; their original use was to protect and load the coal for the Navy’s steamships. Of course steam was quickly replaced by diesel (and eventually nuclear), and the Sheds were likewise converted to provide other ship services: pipeworks, shipwrights, electrical, etc.
Several have been painstakingly and completely restored and renovated. One of these historic waterfront buildings on Mare Island is home to their state-of-the art 15-barrel brewhouse. In June 2020, the taproom and beer garden at the Coal Shed Brewery officially opened to the public. They added their "Pie Wagon" food truck not long after to serve food to taproom patrons.
