Doctors Say Media Glorifies Car Surfing

We didn't even know what "car surfing" was until we read this UPI.com article. It made us wonder about what these kids think they are doing. The Doctors say they have treated too many head injuries to kids 11 to 16 years old who car surf and they are blaming the media and video games for "glorifying" car surfing. As proof they tell us that car surfing injuries peak on new video game release dates.

You have got to be a rather troubled youth to car surf because of a video game. We tend to believe that most kids know the difference between fantasy and reality quite early in life given the 16+ hours per day that they are watching TV, movies, playing games and listening to music since they were one year old. Rather, we think it is teenage risk taking and, if it didn't happen to be car surfing, these same youth would be getting injured in other ways. The bottom line is what are 11-16 years olds doing playing like this on the streets? Where is the parental supervision? 'Nuff said.
