More From Jim And A Possible Return Of The MINI Moke

According to MINI USA V.P. Jim McDowell, MINI owners tend to be individualists and even a bit eccentric. Jim told BusinessWeek that he thinks MINI could easily grow from its current rate of about 50,000 cars a year to 80,000 or more without doing any damage to the marque. With the addition of a few "niche cars beyond the crossover suv that is on the drawing board", he thinks MINI could surpass 100,000 without giving away its exclusivity. But, he believes getting upwards of 160,000 could be problematic. McDowell also said he’d love to bring back a modern interpretation of the Mini Moke - the "gangly offspring of a Mini and a Jeep Wrangler." Jim also disclosed that MINI is seriously looking at it.
