According to
MotoringFile's sources at MINI the GP2 will be based on the R56. Later MINI may also release another limited GP like model for the Coupe. It anticipates a MINI Challenge-esque rear defuser and a large rear wing with unique 18″ wheels standard with a one-of-a-kind variation of the JCW body kit. The JCW engine will likely be modified to get at least 220 hp and the car will be fitted with the JCW suspension as standard.
MINI United 2012 is likely the public debut of the GP2 and you are likely to see see it at MTTS in July and at dealers this fall. No pricing has been released but expect it to exceed the original GP's $31,000.
