Stéphane Peterhansel of the MINI X-raid Team on day 2 took the lead in the third section of the stage – mostly sand dune ranges - and finished 2:30 minutes over second-place driver Giniel de Villiers. According to
MINI Motorsport Leonid Novitskiy finished the day in fifth overall, Krzysztof Holowczy in eighth overall and Carlos Sainz in eleventh overall.
