WHAT'S COMING UP?

Avenue of the Giants Weekend Run - Sat. March 23, 2024

Saturday will be a very full day of cruising from Novato up through the Avenue of the Giants and ending at Eel River Brewing in Fortuna. Sun...

Over The Hills And Far Away Run - October 8-10, 2021

After cancelling this run two years in a row, we’re back to try again!!

REMINDER: THIS RUN IS FOR PAID MEMBERS ONLY!

Your Hosts:
Tina and Steve Sandke

Come join us for a weekend crossing the Sierra Nevada and back! The fall colors will hopefully be in full swing.

We’ll be doing a very informal run up to Murphys Friday afternoon, for those who can make it. See information below.

Saturday’s route takes us over Ebbets and Monitor passes and over to the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. After lunch in the tiny town of Walker, we’ll dash down into Mammoth Lakes, where we’ll spend the night. Dinner will likely be informal and on your own; we’ll finalize this as the run gets close.

Sunday morning we head back north from Mammoth, take a detour around the June Lake Loop, then stop for lunch in Bridgeport. After lunch, we cross Sonora Pass and head back through Sonora and then scatter and return to our lives.

What to bring:
Your radios. Don’t forget chargers and/or extra batteries; these are long days.
Snacks & Drinks. There aren’t any places to stop and grab something on the passes.
Toilet Paper (the bathrooms along the way are, shall we say, rustic in places.)
Stickers you’d like to place at a vista point
A significant portion of Saturday and Sunday are spent at higher altitudes (9000 ft).
Remember to bring plenty of water and stay hydrated.

Note: we strongly suggest booking hotel stays which are refundable. This run is at the mercy of public safety power shutoffs (2019), pandemics (2020), and fires (not yet, but the hills are dry). It’s possible we’ll have to cancel it.

Saturday September 25, 2021

From The Junction we will continue along Mines Road towards Livermore heading to our final destination of East Bay MINI for our Annual Meeting. lunch and draw.

Note: Lunch will be provided by East Bay MINI as well as the drawing prizes. THANK YOU EAST BAY!!!!

Recap - Gold Country Run and Annual Picnic July 24, 2021

Your Hosts For The Event: Anne and Dave Sitter

Our July 2021 run to the Gold Country was a fun and exciting event. We started in Santa Nella at about 11:00 am, and drove the back roads of Santa Nella into Merced. They were flat roads through the fields and farms back in that area. We were stuck behind a car the entire way that slowed us down, but we still managed to get to our first destination, the Merced Fruit Barn.

There we collected donations for our charity of the run which was the Heading Home Animal Rescue out of Aromas, CA. We collected a total of $1200 for HHAR that will be used to help with veterinary bills and supplies for hundreds of feral and domestic cats and kittens, dogs and other small animals they rescue.

Check out their website link below.

From the Fruit Barn we headed up to the Gold Country on some very winding and beautiful mountain roads. The run took longer than expected due to the roads and vehicles slowing us up, but by 2:30 we were pulling into Indigeny Reserve in Sonora for our annual club picnic. The club provided sandwiches and cookies from Subway as well as drinks and chips. We had a picnic area reserved there for use and we filled it up with all the members who attended. The run ended about 6:00 pm with some people heading to their overnight accommodations and others heading back home.

Special thanks to Dolores for picking up the food from Subway for us and to Simon and Nicki for bringing the drinks and chips.

Most importantly we wanted to extend an overall thank you, again, on behalf of Heading Home Animal Rescue, for the donations. The money collected will go a long way to help these wonderful animals in need of care.

River Road/Carmel Valley Run - Sunday August 29, 2021

Your Hosts For The Event:

Mick Brown and Vickie Casacca

Date of the Event:

Sunday August 29, 2021

This run is one of our club favorites as Mick and Vickie always put together a great day. The run will start in Salinas and head west on Highway 68 to River Road and follow it south down to Arroyo Seco and around to Carmel Valley Road. There will be some twisties and there is a section that is only one lane. Once we get to Carmel Valley we will meet at the Carmel Valley Community Park at 25 Ford Road where we will group back up for some fun and games (details to come).

That is where the run will end and you are free to either head home or have lunch. There are many places in the area to eat such as the Trailside Cafe, Cafe Rustica and Mick and Vickie's favorite local dive bar The Running Iron. There are also many wineries in the area that are open for tasting.

In addition nearby is the Moto Talbott. Motorcycle Museum on 4 East Carmel Valley Road. A wonderful collection of classics. The fee to enter is only $10.

This run is also a FUNDRAISER for the Salinas Circle for Children! A wonderful organization to help children with special needs in Monterey county. The club is donating $250.00 so bring your checkbook to the run and hopefully all of us can match it. Check out their website below.

We are going to have TWO meet up times!

Our normal meetup spot in Salinas  is the Starbucks/Lucky parking lot at 1186 South Main Street. However, on Sundays they hold a weekly Cars and Coffee meetup and show. It starts at 8 and goes until 10. So, Mick and Vickie will be there at 8am and try and save an area of our group. Should be a great way to start the day. Show off our cars and also check out the many others that show up.

Cars & Coffee Meeting Time (if you want to get here early):

8:00 am

Regular Meeting/Departure Time:

9:30am/10:00am
