Recap - Gold Country Run and Annual Picnic July 24, 2021

Your Hosts For The Event: Anne and Dave Sitter

Our July 2021 run to the Gold Country was a fun and exciting event. We started in Santa Nella at about 11:00 am, and drove the back roads of Santa Nella into Merced. They were flat roads through the fields and farms back in that area. We were stuck behind a car the entire way that slowed us down, but we still managed to get to our first destination, the Merced Fruit Barn.

There we collected donations for our charity of the run which was the Heading Home Animal Rescue out of Aromas, CA. We collected a total of $1200 for HHAR that will be used to help with veterinary bills and supplies for hundreds of feral and domestic cats and kittens, dogs and other small animals they rescue.

From the Fruit Barn we headed up to the Gold Country on some very winding and beautiful mountain roads. The run took longer than expected due to the roads and vehicles slowing us up, but by 2:30 we were pulling into Indigeny Reserve in Sonora for our annual club picnic. The club provided sandwiches and cookies from Subway as well as drinks and chips. We had a picnic area reserved there for use and we filled it up with all the members who attended. The run ended about 6:00 pm with some people heading to their overnight accommodations and others heading back home.

Special thanks to Dolores for picking up the food from Subway for us and to Simon and Nicki for bringing the drinks and chips.

Most importantly we wanted to extend an overall thank you, again, on behalf of Heading Home Animal Rescue, for the donations. The money collected will go a long way to help these wonderful animals in need of care.
