That is what Jim McDowell, head of MINI North America, said about the Countryman to the
New York Times at the New York International Auto Show debut of the Countryman. McDowell also said MINI is "still a niche player. We just want to give people more variety.” The Times believes it will be hard to convince customers that MINI is still just a "niche player" now that it has "an ever-expanding lineup of vehicles, from sports car to crossover . . ."
