According to U.S. Government statistics traffic deaths in 2009 fell to a sixty year low - the lowest level since 1950. Forty-one states and Washington D.C. reported fewer highway deaths in 2009 than 2010 despite an increase in U.S. travel of 0.2 percent during the same period.
