The British magazine Which? conducted a study in the UK that determined 87 percent of mechanics are oblivious to what is happening to the car they are supposed to repair. This is how the study was conducted. The magazine's personnel caused problems to their vehicles and went to several servicing stations across the country for repairs. The problems they induced required at most five minutes to check and three minutes to fix: a flat spare tire, low braking fluid and a malfunctioning reverse light. Sixty-eight percent of the Mechanics failed to fix the flat spare tire; fifty-seven percent failed to fix the light, and forty-eight percent failed to spot the low brake fluid. However, forty percent of the service stations billed for windshield washer fluid, despite the fact that the tank holding the stuff was full when the car came into the station.
