Fatality Crash Rates For Older Drivers Dive

According to a Insurance Institute for Highway Safety report during the last decade the rate at which older drivers are involved in fatal road crashes has plunged. For drivers 70 and older it fell 37 percent from 1997-2008 and for drivers 80 and older it dropped by almost half. The IIHS expected to see a trend in the opposite direction. The drop is tied largely to older drivers now being more restrictive in the a amount they drive than they have in the past.
