this article in the Los Angeles Times Consumer Reports rates Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, Audi, Porsche and Jaguar in the second half of its reliability ratings. The top half of the ratings are dominated by Japanese brands, Jeep and Lincoln. The reason European brands lag behind, according to David Champion Sr., director of Consumer Reports' Automotive Test Center in East Haddam, Conn.,
"When you look at the problems these vehicles have, they are mainly electrical or electronic issues, . . . ."
