Saudi Arabian Women Arrested Seeking The Right To Drive

Saudis prohibit women from driving automobiles. With the winds of revolution throughout the Middle East Saudi Manal al-Sharif started a perilous campaign to earn women the right to drive. Sharif posted videos of herself driving on YouTube and started Facebook and Twitter accounts that prompted other Saudi women to do the same. The Saudi government then stepped in and arrested Sharif, had her videos removed from YouTube. her Facebook page deleted and ran a duplicate of her Twitter account which posted messages indicating that she had stopped her efforts.
